Nagasaki University（Bunkyomachi 2）Student Support and Educational Facilities

Concept

Located on the Bunkyo Campus of Nagasaki University in the northern part of Nagasaki City, this facility consists of a student support center and other support sections on the lower floors and lecture rooms and other educational sections on the upper floors. The top floor has a large lecture hall with 260 seats, and was planned for use not only for daily lectures but also for academic conferences. Surrounded by school buildings, the building was designed to allow for ventilation between buildings, and wall greenery facing the courtyard contributes to the creation of a lush green environment. To ensure that the facility can flexibly adapt to changes in the university organization, the perimeter of the building is solidified with an RC frame, while the central portion is steel-framed, eliminating interior earthquake-resistant walls and creating an open space with a high degree of flexibility.
